Week 16 (S2W1)
““Magic is in her just as it is in Dickon,” said Colin. “It makes her think of ways to do things - nice things.””
Ordering a New Year
We reflected on what went well our first semester and what we want to grow in. We walked through our Big Life 2020 planners for ideas on how we can reflect and make decisions for our growth. Lots of great reflection pages and opportunity to be intentional about their formation this year! These little books would be a great addition to their 7th grade portfolio - their future self might really enjoy seeing their past goals dreams! (Those who plan what is good find love and faithfulness. Prov. 14:22)
3Q Lunch & Learn - Monday, 1/7 (12:15-12:45)
We will meet over lunch the first week back (Foundations W13) for our Challenge Moms Lunch & Learn to discuss the next concept from I Said This, You Heard That - What we need, and what unmet needs look like.
I will also share an overview of our quarter, and some thoughts on Challenge B!
Character Journal - Order
Our Character study this week was on orderliness, and the nature of God being of order (I Cor. 14:40).
We see it in creation (the perfect symmetry of leaves, the changing of seasons, the timing of the tides, the perfect harmony of our bodies) and also in our hearts - an ordered heart is a peaceful one (conversely - confusion, frustration, fatigue, etc. is disorder in our hearts). We see it in our space (when our rooms or schoolwork are tidy) and also in our habits.
We enjoy clean, tidy, peaceful space because we are made in the image of an orderly God, and he instructs us to keep order in our lives (I Timothy 3:1-2).
This helped us think about ordering our year ahead!
Upcoming Math Presentations:
W17/S2W2 Elizabeth
W18/S2W3 Jedidiah
We reviewed Lesson 9 - Verbs and Vocab!
Please complete Exercises 118-122, 125 (the page we started in class). This practice will reinforce both vocab and the verb principles we learned.
The assigned S2W2 exercises (126, 127, 129. 130) are primarily translated and also help reinforce the careful examination of verb endings and what they determine to be happening in the sentence. Please do some of each exercise! (You will get out of it what you put into it!)
Asia is broken up over the next 5 weeks - in class we discussed and reviewed Western Asia countries, capitals and features.
Get started drawing it this week!
Time to polish up science experiment documentation, adding data analysis and conclusions to your research plans (this becomes your research paper; see Guide p.129)!
See assignment sheets for details, and the Guide for reference.
Start presentation boards - we will be presenting to class in 2 weeks (on W18/S2W3).
We started The Fallacy Detective (fun!) in class - please complete through Chapter 5.
In the future, we will be completing a chapter in class, and a chapter at home each week.
This is designed to be a light and enjoyable strand in the load! We had a lot of laughs already.
