Week 17 (S2W2)
“Motivation gets you going and habit gets you there.”
We are officially back in school! Let’s have a great week and enjoy the feast this week! The work we put in this week will bless us with a great seminar together on Monday. I’m so grateful to be together - to encourage and spur each other on toward love and the good deeds of diligence and study. Light a candle, bring your mug of cocoa, find your space for focus and let’s get our awesome study habits rolling! : )
Moms, thank you for your lunch time today! I am so grateful to be intentionally speaking what is helpful to build our children up in company with you. Praying for your week as you consider the tank status of your family and yourself! ISTYHT videos are available on You Tube if you want to hear more. Let me know if you have any questions about the semester ahead (or next year!). Thank you for praying with us for our community and what God has for us together.

Little Women - Behind the Scenes (delightful)
Aussie’s Road Trip through Pakistan [Beautiful drone views of Pakistan. This couple intended to “overland” from Australia to the UK and crossed much of our Asian geography. They were captured in Iran and detained for 3 months in Iranian prison for flying their drone in too close proximity to Iranian nuclear facilities - YIKES. They were released in October.]
Iran’s movement of Christian women! [*Documentary highly recommended by Erin]
Character Journal - Attentiveness
We are called on many occasions in the Bible to be attentive - because we are easily distracted!
We also discussed God’s nature of attentiveness to us - he has even numbered the hairs on our heads, and captures each of our tears.
While attentiveness is a blessing to us in many settings (including class!), God calls us especially to be attentive to Him and His commands.
Upcoming Math Presentations:
W18/S2W3 Jedidiah
We started Soduko today! We will be working a puzzle in their books each week to sharpen our logic skills and enjoy playing with numbers!
We will be reviewing our basics every week to keep up what we have learned through the year.
Please work on Exercises this week to practice what we have been learning about verbs in class!
Asia is broken up over the next 4 weeks - in class we discussed and reviewed Southern Asia countries, capitals and features.
Get started drawing it this week!
We discussed the 10/40 window, and the need to know these countries and their people, and pray for them as we study.
Look up some of the open Asia questions in our Cartography book and bring in some goodness to share! Bonus for Tibet/China insight for our discussion next week.
Science Fair Projects will be presented in class next week (in order of Lizzie, Makenna, Elizabeth, Sarea, Claudia, Jedidiah). They will have 10 minutes to present and share their project experience, and field our questions (see assignment sheet).
Science Fair is currently scheduled in conjunction with the Variety Show evening on 1/21.
See Guide Research Appendix for Science Fair Project evaluation form for further guidance on what must be included in their final project.
Fallacy Detective chapters and questions will be completed together in class each week.
Today we learned about Red Herring fallacies - cases where a question is intentionally avoided or a new topic is thrown into the conversation to detract from the issue. Great conversation!
LTW: Arrangement
Assigned LTW p. 66+ for Refutation exercise and outline format for their Secret Garden issue.
